Genital warts

Genital warts are one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted diseases in the world; it is caused by some sub-types of human papillomavirus (HPV). It is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact with the skin of an infected person. It does not need the exchange of bodily liquid to be infected on to another person. In women, genital warts can be found on the outside and inside of vagina, cervix, uterus and around the anus. In men, genital warts can be found on the shaft of the penis, on the scrotum and around the anus. Genital warts also may be found in the mouth and throat in person who does oral sex with infected partner. Symptoms of genital warts may appear from a few weeks to even several years.
